Overview

This 3 Days Trip to Nyerere National Park formerly (Selous Game Reserve) is Tanzania’s iconic and beautiful National Park, one of the few Protected Areas in the country’s southern circuit. Surrounded by Udzungwa Mountains National Park in the west as well as Mikumi National Park in the northwest, explore this awesome safari destination in all its glory with a game drive. It has significant populations of the African elephant, black rhinos and wild hunting dogs. It also includes one of the world’s largest known populations of hippopotamus and buffalo.

Itinerary

Day 1

Zanzibar / Dar es Salaam – Nyerere National Park – Dar es Salaam/ Zanzibar

Morning from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam fly to Mtemere airstrip on a 50 mins to 1 hrs flight. Your private safari guide will welcome you at the airstrip. After a brief introduction, you will enjoy the game driving at Nyerere National Park, dinner and overnight in Nyerere Park.

Day 2

Full day Game Drives in Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserves)

After early breakfast depart for full day game drive in the Selous Game Reserve exploring the game in the surrounding areas. You may expect to see any of the major African great favorite mammals, including Elephant, Giraffes, Lions, Buffalo, Zebra and even the rare African Wild Dog. Picnic lunch shall be provided in the mid-day and afternoon return to the lodge and the rest of the evening will be spent at your own leisure. Dinner and overnight at Lodge/ Camp.

Day 3

Nyerere National Park Walking Safari – Dar es Salaam / Zanzibar

Early morning walking safari into the Nyerere National Park, usually start at 6-6.30am after early morning tea or coffee, accompanied by an armed ranger and it will take around 2-3 hours long. Walking safari is a fantastic way to experience more about the Selous Bushes. Although you may see wildlife during the walk, the focus is also on the habitat that the animals live in, insects, trees and birdlife. You will have an interesting and amazing experience to walk within such a vast area of the natural reserve – an experience which very few places in Africa are able to offer. After breakfast you will be transferred to Mtemere airstrip for the departure on a scheduled night at 1030hrs or 1250hrs to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.
