Overview

A 2 Day Trip to Nyerere National Park formerly (Selous Game Reserve) a Tanzania’s iconic and beautiful National Park and one of the few Protected Areas in the country’s southern circuit. The Park is surrounded by Udzungwa Mountains National Park in the west as well as Mikumi National Park in the northwest, explore this awesome safari destination in all its glory with a game drive. It has significant populations of the African elephant, black rhinos and wild hunting dogs. It also includes one of the world’s largest known populations of hippopotamus and buffalo.

Itinerary

Day 1

Dar es Salaam – Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

Pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam in the morning and proceed to Nyerere National Park with picnic lunch, Late afternoon, boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, Dinner and overnight at Lodge / Tented Camp (L,D).

Rufiji River by boat, encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest.

Day 2

Game Drive in Nyerere National Park – Dar es Salaam

After early breakfast, proceed for game drive with picnic lunch. Afternoon, proceed for Dar es Salaam. Arrive around 1800 hours or later depending on traffic.
